Blogging for SEOContest2008

What is blogging? This word is nowadays is getting famous and draws the attention of many people. When I first heard of this word, I actually don’t have any idea at all. The word sounds unfamiliar and it irritates my ears. I felt ashame of myself when a friend of mine once asked me that word. He asked me if I do blogging since I have my own website. I did not realize that what I am actually doing in my site is already about blogging. Blogging is not just writing what you think or thing what you would like to say, but it is all about expressing your emotion with feelings and most especially, BLOGGING is PASSION as what my friend used to tell me.

Today, since I already knew what blogging is all about, I can do many things about it. I am now actually using it for the newly launched SEOContest2008 in UK. This is actually my first time to join this kind of contest though my friends used to participate and have already won. My JRSEOContest2008 blog is my official blog for the SEOContest2008 brought to us by UK Webmaster World SEO Contest.

I actually name my entry blog as JRSEOContest2008 for the SEOContest2008 because I know that I am still a novice when it comes to SEOContest2008. I still have to learn much things about SEO and how to generate more traffic on my site. I am still, and I agree that I need to learn more for the SEOContest2008.

I know that in the SEOContest2008, there are many participants whom already won many contest similar to this. Though I know that I am competing with many SEO geeks, I stil believe in what my mentor has told me, it is about the “First Timer’s Luck.” Who knows, with this SEOContest2008, I can be on top of the others. That is how optimistic I am when it comes to the SEOContest2008.

Everyday, every hour, I always check on my status. I am always turning on my computer and search the internet using the keyword SEOContest2008 whether my blog is on the first 5 pages of the popular search engines. Well, I happy that after 3 days of registering my JRSEOContest2008 blog for the SEOContest2008, I remain on page 5 so far. I don’t know if this will drop, will remain as it is, or it will go up. This SEOContest2008 is really challenging to me as a blogger. I hope that I will do better that seeing my JRSEOContest2008 blog for the SEOContest2008 and not by simply remaining in page 5.

PRIDE and HONOR on the SEOContest2008

It is nearly 3:00 in the morning and my eye lids slowly close down little by little but I am still trying to fight it just to make my blog a competitive like the other blogs which were also registered in the UK’s recently launched Search Engine Optimization Contest or more popularly known as SEOContest2008.

Well, honestly, this is my first time to join the contest. I have been observing my friends, Gio and Philip joining different contest in the country and also watch them receive their awards winning home as champions. I am also aiming for that and I am still optimistic that I will be learning something in this SEOContest2008.

But, perhaps some may ask what will be the prize when someone wins the competition. For me, the best answer I could give is that, in this SEOContest2008, it is not actually the money which is important. What matter most is the experience and learning you will get upon participating on the aforementioned activity. This will give us (we the contestants), a chance to broaden our ideas and widen our imaginations by trying to figure out on how to optimize our website using the keyword given. At the same time, PRIDE and HONOR is priceless. That would probably be the main goal of every participants like me to have.

I know that there are tough competitors who already have their experiences but I will still stick on my belief, that nothing is impossible as long as you believe that you can do it. Anyway, to us believers and achievers, impossible is not part in our dictionary list.

So, to my fellow participants, I wish you all good luck and see you around. Make your best on the SEOContest2008.

How To Safely Haul Your Classic Car

Begin by looking at your trailer. Is there sufficient length for the Classic Car plus enough space to operate the ratchet assemblies at the fore and aft of the bodywork? Do you have ‘D’ rings located towards the corners of the trailer? Is the ‘D’ ring rated for a total of 3 times the weight of the car? Once these items have been addressed, It is time to load the car and tie it down.

Once you have loaded it onto the trailer, the next step is to connect the straps. You can buy a complete tie down kit from Mac’s custom tie downs. Start by connecting the twisted snap hook on the fixed end (the short end) to each of the ‘D’ rings. Choose a set of locations to tie down to.

Typically, on a Classic Car those locations would be through the wheel, over an axle or substantial suspension member, or possibly around a frame horn.

Some general guidelines to keep in mind are: choose a location with enough strength to hold the Classic Car in the event of an accident, one that is free of cutting hazards, and with enough space around it to lace the axle strap.

DO NOT run a strap where it might migrate and crush a brake line. Also consider the effect of the movement of the Classic Car while it is traveling down the road, since what may seem like a clear space now, could become tie down strap guillotine later, if the trailer hits a hard bump.

After choosing a location, you should now run your axle strap around it. Check the length if the standard 24” isn’t enough, don’t worry Mac’s can make the strap in any length needed in a short timeframe.
After determining that the length is correct, align the two delta rings at the end of the axle strap together and click in the running end (long end) of the ratchet strap. Before ratcheting the strap tight, pull the tail end of the strap through until the strap looks straight. Now you can ratchet the strap, making sure to have two full wraps around the mandrel to ensure a positive mechanical lock. Repeat this process at all four corners of the Classic Car.

Should you cross the straps? Possibly. Understand that the strap will have its maximum strength in the line it is pulling. It is always a good idea to have the straps at the rear of the Classic Car pulling mostly straight back. Most vehicles will out corner a trailer, so the Classic Car is more likely to come loose when an accident occurs than wander around when properly tied down. Be sure to take a look at the setup in your trailer and make sure that it is sensible this is the best test for tie downs.

A Salute To A Friend

How will you call someone when he/she thinks of something, impossible is not a word that hinders him/her to stop and reach for what he/she crave for. It is hard to find word which will describe this kind of person. Perhaps, I too is having difficulties on how to describe myself to others because I am also the same person I am describing.

I know a person which has the same traits as mine. He, I should say, used to be an ordinary person but full of dreams and creative imaginations. I know him since I was still in college and he was also in the same school I was at. He is simple, talks very soft and friendly which kept him gained more friends. He was then fond of computers as he took IT incline degree and he was already a geek even when on his first year of school.

Today, with the knowledge nurtured in him, he recently joined the Philippine SEOContest2008 and emerged as the Champion. He has been competing in some SEO contests in the country for the past previous years and he was also a runner up on every contest he participated. I am referring to a friend of mine, the one who taught me how make money online, the one who gave me my very first website, and the one who told me to participate in the SEOContest2008 in UK. He is no other that MR. PHILIP TIANGSON, the winner of the Philippine SEOContest2008.

A very BIG thanks to you my FRIEND. Good luck to you and more blessings to come.

Is Chocolate Milk A Compromise In A Glass?

Technically compromise means "together promise". In reality, however, it means hard work. All sides have to give a little in order to meet in the middle. It's meant to be a win/win situation in which everyone accepts losing something.

There's a perfect example of commercial compromise just a few miles from my house. It's called the China Hut Donut Shop. I've never eaten there, but I'm guessing the egg rolls have holes in the middle and an hour after eating one of the donuts you're hungry again.

"A man shall leave his father and his mother and cling to his wife and they shall be one flesh". So it says in the Bible, but it's easier said than done.

Some people say the secret to a happy marriage is money. Some say it's good sex. Others say it's having children. I say it's compromise. Without it a marriage is a cold war, a dictatorship or a monarchy. Of course, if my marriage were a monarchy and John and I were younger versions of Prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth, I'd have so many hats I'd never have to worry about a bad hair day again - but I digress.

When John and I were first married he thought that giving a little meant giving in. I'd grown up with sisters. I didn't learn how to cook, but I learned how to make concessions. I'm not saying John's mother spoiled him. Obviously not. When he teases, he's as fresh as he ever. It's just that when it came to decisions, being one flesh wasn't his strong point.

Happily, marriage and children have mellowed him. Naming our children was a "together promise". When we lived near his mother, so was raising our children; and when our children were teenagers, life was a constant meeting in the middle.

If spouses don't learn how to meet in the middle, they'll meet in divorce court. If there's something I don't want to do but know I should, I try to meet myself in the middle. I see-saw back and forth with my conscience until I come up with an acceptable solution.

Okay, what I do is bribe myself to do whatever it is. A cup of Starbucks usually works, but compromise would be a lot easier for everyone if it were spelled differently. It has an "I" in it, but it should also have a "U".

Clinton, Edwards and Obama Using SMS in Primary Campaign

Hilary Rodham Clinton announced in May that she would use SMS to garner support for her campaign. The "mobile-to-mobile text-messaging push" targets the 230 million Americans who use cell phones. Her efforts signal she is hunting for every possible vote in her battle for top nominee spot against rival Sen. Barack Obama. Supporters of Clinton can send the word "JOIN" to short code 77007 and will in return receive updates and news, as well as personal messages and photos focused on the area they live in. Clinton wants to use the technology to provide more personalized updates to supporters nationwide. Clinton also wants to encourage voters to add their opinion and steer them toward her website from their mobile web browsers.

In the last week of June, Barack Obama announced the launch of an SMS service for his presidential nominee campaign. Supporters send the word "GO" to the short code "OBAMA"(62262). Users can request information from the campaign, find out when the next important public appearance is, get speeches sent via text and submit their opinions and advise. Obama wants to buld on the grassroots volunteer network as part of his campaign push. The campaign will also provide ringtones and wallpaper with an "Obama theme".

It was John Edwards however, who was the first in this Presidential campaign to use SMS technology. Last year Edwards launched a site dedicated exclusively to tracking and posting his text messages while he travels around the country looking for support. The site is updated constantly and displays both the time and date that the text was sent from Edwards' phone. The site also includes a daily short code that users can use to receive updated information on his campaign, in addition to brief campaign platform issues.

Law of Attraction Classics: Suggestion is Power - Politics

In his book, Penthouse of the Gods, published in 1939, Theos Bernard recounts some interesting facts as to the repetition of certain mystical chants and prayers. When he wrote it, he claimed to be the first white person to enter the mysterious Tibetan city of Lhasa, high in the Himalayas, where the monasteries contained thousands of lamas---followers of Buddha.

On reading the book, you get the impression that when the lamas, and monks are not eating or attending to the material wants of their bodies, they are constantly and continuously engaged in their mystical chants, using their prayer wheels.

Bernard declared that in one temple, the monks started at daybreak and spent the entire day repeating prayers. The exact number of their repetitions was 108,000. He told also of how lamas accompanying him repeated certain fixed chants in order to give him additional strength.

In all religions, cults, and orders, there is an obvious, prescribed ritual in which the repetition of words (mystical or otherwise) plays an important part. And this brings us to the law of suggestion.

Forces operating within its limits are capable of producing phenomenal results. That is, the power of suggestion---either autosuggestion (your own to yourself) or heterosuggestion (coming to you from outside sources)---starts the machinery into operation, causing the subconscious mind to begin its creative work---and right here is where the affirmations and repetitions play their part.

Repetition of the same chant, the same incantations, the same affirmations leads to belief, and once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.

A builder or contractor looks over a set of plans and specifications for a bridge or a building, and, urged by a desire to get the contract for the work, declares to himself, "I can do that. Yes, I can do that."

He may repeat it silently to himself a thousand times without being conscious of doing it. Nevertheless, the suggestion finds a place in which to take root, he gets the contract, and the structure is eventually built. Conversely, he may say that he can't do it---and he never does.

Hitler used the identical force and the same mechanics in inciting the German people to attack the world. A reading of his Mein Kampf will verify that.

Dr. RenÚ Fauvel, a famous French psychologist, explained it by saying that Hitler had a remarkable understanding of the law of suggestion and its different forms of application, and that he mobilized every instrument of propaganda in his mighty campaign of suggestion with uncanny skill and masterly showmanship.

Hilter openly stated that the psychology of suggestion was a terrible weapon in the hands of anyone who knew how to use it.

Let's see how he worked it to make the Germans believe what he wanted them to. Slogans, posters, huge signs, massed flags appeared throughout Germany. Hitler's picture was everywhere. "One Reich, one People, one Leader" became the chant. It was heard everywhere that a group gathered.

"Today we own Germany, tomorrow the entire world," the marching song of the German youths, came from thousands of throats daily. Such slogans as "Germany has waited long enough," "Stand up, you are the aristocrats of the Third Reich," "Germany is behind Hitler to a man," and hundreds of others, bombarded them twenty-four hours a day from billboards, sides of buildings, the radio, and the press.

Every time they moved, turned around, or spoke to one another, they got the idea that they were a superior race, and once that belief took hold, they started their campaign of terror.

Under the hypnotic influence of this belief, strengthened by repeated suggestion, they started out to prove it. Unfortunately for them, other nations also had strong national beliefs that eventually became the means of bringing defeat to the Germans.

Mussolini, too, used the same law of suggestion in an attempt to give Italy a place in the sun. Signs and slogans such as "Believe, Obey, Fight," "Italy must have its great place in the world," "We have some old scores and new scores to settle," covered the walls of thousands of buildings, and similar ideas were dinned into the people via the radio and every other means of direct communication.

Joseph Stalin, too, used the same science to build Russia into what she is today. In November, 1946, the Institute of Modern Hypnotism, recognizing that Stalin had been using the great power of the repeated suggestion in order to make the Russian people believe in their strength, named him as one of the ten persons with the "most hyponotic eyes in the world," and rated him as a "mass hypnotist."

The Japanese warlords used it to make fanatical fighters out of their people. From the very day of their birth, Japanese children were fed the suggestion that they were direct descendants of Heaven and destined to rule the world. They prayed it, chanted it, and believed it; but here again, it was used wrongly.

For forty-four years, ever since the Russo-Japanese war, the Japanese immortalized Naval Warrant Officer Magoshichi Sugino, one of Japan's early suicide fighters and greatest heroes. Thousands of statues were erected to his memory. In repeated song and story, young Nipponese were taught to believe that they could die in no more heroic manner than by following his example.

Millions of them believed it, and during the war thousands of them did die as Kamekazi pilots. Yet Sugino, who was supposed to have gone to his death while scuttling a ship to bottle up the Russian fleet at Port Arthur, didn't die in battle! He was picked up by a Chinese boat. Upon learning that he was being lauded by his people as a great martyr, he decided to remain obscure and became an exile in Manchuria.

Although he was alive and well, it continued to be dinned into the ears of young Nipponese that there was no greater heroic act than to die as Sugino had. This terrible, persistent and deeply founded belief, though based entirely on a fable, caused thousands of Japanese to throw away their lives during the war.

Finally, Associated Press dispatches from Tokyo in November, 1946, told how he was discovered after many years and was being returned home.

Americans, too, were subjected to the power of suggestion long before World War I, and got it again in a big way under the direction of General Hugh Johnson with his N.R.A. plan.

In World War II, we were constantly told that Germany and Japan had to be defeated unconditionally. Under the constant repetition of the same thought, all individual thinking was paralyzed and the mass mind became grooved to a certain pattern---win the war unconditionally. As one writer so ably said, "In war, the voice of dissension becomes the voice of treason."

Again we see the terrific force of thought repetition---it is our master, and we do as we are ordered.

Alien Invasions from Secret Space

I lived a somewhat isolated life through the many years of research on the ancient astronaut of the sixth century, pretty much wholly unaware of what was going on in the outside world with respect to UFOs, alien abductions, and the like. I had deceived myself into thinking that my ancient astronaut theory was unique and well-substantiated, and that it would quickly find some recognition from among the world's intellectuals.

Recently, a couple of Secret Space DVDs enlightened me on the reality of aliens in our contemporary world. The two DVDs came to us via regular mail from a British film director, as payment for granted permissions to make free use of the material on my website for a future project or projects. From those DVDs, I learned that aliens are nothing special, that human history is saturated with alien invasions, hundreds of them, and that such invasions have occurred on every continent and in every epoch of world history. The alien invasions continue to this day. It seems that NASA and the US intelligence agencies are supplying this film director, possibly on a daily basis, with film of alien spaceships invading our planet, and the director quickly turns to display that footage to us.

Beyond the UFO films, it looks like the US government also provided this film director with wide-ranging top-secret reports, detailed reports from the US military on how they used laser beam weapons to shoot down several alien spacecraft, reports from US scientists on how they back-engineered the technology found in the remnants of the downed alien spacecraft, reports from US astronauts in space about spotting alien UFOs all over the place, and a report, evidently dating from the early 1970s, from US astronauts on the Moon about having seen a row of alien spaceships parked along the edge of a crater. It was unclear if the US government also provided the director with the faked pictures of the lunar landing in 1969 or if he got them from another source. In any case, I see nothing wrong with NASA trying to commercialize the historic event by selling fake pictures to cover aspects of the event not filmed directly.

The Secret Space DVDs revealed to me one underlying and undeniable truth: no branch of the US government, its military or intelligence agencies, has ever had any contact with aliens whatsoever, and no branch of the US government is covering up anything. When the US government initiated the alien disinformation campaign decades ago, it was widely believed that contact with aliens was forthcoming and that this could prove harmful. Contact with aliens is no longer believed to be imminent; nonetheless, the US government rigorously continues the disinformation campaign just as a precaution. Of course, contact with civilized aliens could still prove harmful. For example, it could harm the US government's plans to continue the slaughter in Iraq, and it could harm the US government's plans to put nuclear weapons into orbit. Indeed, with the need to come to grips with extraterrestrial life, people are likely to become far less tolerate of human beings killing each other, and we might also witness a surge in war protests from around the world.

I congratulate the US government on their brilliant alien disinformation campaign. Some of the world's top-ranked psychologists must have been hired to assist them. Fifty years of fabricated UFO sightings, false alien abductions, faked cover-ups, and so forth, have discredited the aliens in the public mind, to the point that a real alien, when and if one should ever appear, may be wholly ignored. In fact, this brainwashing of the masses campaign was so successful that if a real alien spacecraft were to come to Earth and then hover directly on top of the White House, they could probably succeed in explaining it away as just a secret experiment for presidential security.

In past times, people were burned at the stake for merely believing in the existence of extraterrestrial life. There seems to be less burning at the stake these days, but other than that, nothing has changed. Then, as now, extraterrestrial intelligence remains the most terrifying obstacle for war-minded humans. Naturally, the US government has taken measures to protect its military activities from all harm.

With alien spaceships now fully discredited, the only real danger for the US government is that an astronomer somewhere or another will pick up a clear, unmistakable signal from aliens in deep space. As a precaution against this devastating possibility, the US government, a long time ago, pressured the world community into agreements whereby, in the event any astronomer picks up an alien signal, that signal would have to undergo prolonged scrutiny by the US intelligence agencies before it could be announced to the world by the United Nations. SETI astronomers be forewarned. The US government does not take kindly to anyone or anything that could upset their war plans, and there can be no guarantee that the United Nations will ever announce your discovery.

Such as Chinese Food, Thai Food etc but to be honest it could be argued that with regards to Spain there is no such thing as “Spanish” food as with the make up and historical heritage of Spain it is not quite that simple.

The Political and historical make up of Spain with the unification of its particular regions and collective cultural identities make it perfectly reasonable and logical to argue that there is no such thing really as overall Spanish cooking. These autonomous regions have been slowly amalgamated through a number of different processes throughout history but have all kept their own distinctive features.

The relative number of autonomous regions that combine to form modern day Spain is 17 and in the main, they all have their own language variants (if not separate languages) and entire cultural heritages. One of the more interesting and culturally diverse regions is that of Galicia which is situated in the North Western corner of mainland Spain.

Galicia is surrounded on two sides by the Atlantic Ocean and it is pretty understandable to think that for a region that has such an involvement with the sea, its cuisine would also be heavily influenced by the sea. Nothing in fact could be further than the truth and there are a whole host of interesting and delicious recipes based upon the agriculture and viniculture of the region.

The time for talk is over and let’s gets on with the serious business of cooking!

For this delicious Gazpacho recipe we are looking to take enough ingredients to serve four people and us such we would need the following:

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 small leaks, white parts and then chopped.
600 ml of water
1 potato peeled and diced
450 grams of fresh asparagus with the tougher parts of the stalks trimmed and chopped.
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 media makes
1 teaspoon vinegar
A pinch of sea salt flake’s
A few drops of truffle oil or extra virgin olive oil

Take the olive oil in a heat the oil in a saucepan and then add the leaks and stew slowly until the leaks are nice and soft.

Next add the water a little salt and pepper and potato if you are going to be using one. The reason for including a potato in anything like this is that it will slightly thicken the soup making the whole dish a lot more substantial.

However, if you are going to include potato in this recipe then you have to remember that the soup will need to cook for about 10 minutes longer than normal until the potato has softened. The next thing is to add the asparagus and boil for five minutes. Be careful at this stage because if you boil the asparagus for too long you lose the colour from the asparagus and the whole soup will lose a bit of the visual impact.

Take the soup and then purée the soup in whatever blender or food processor that you have and when the soup has been puréed, push the soup through a sieve. The reason for this is that you want to try and make the soup as much of a consommé as possible.

Let the finished soup cool and then keep the soup cool until you are ready to serve. When you’re almost ready to serve the soup poured into some nice wide rimmed bowls.

Now for the second stage of the recipe, the warm poached eggs.

Take a saucepan and add some water. Add the vinegar and bring the water to a simmer rather than a boil. Take the eggs and gently crack them and gently lower them into the water. Simmer a couple of the eggs at a time for about three minutes or until the white of the egg is set.

Remove the eggs and leave them to drain. If at this particular point in time you want to be totally obsessed with the display and appearance of the soup you could always try and trim the whites of the egg either with a knife or scissors. Take the poached egg and place one in the centre of each bowl of soup and sprinkle on top of the egg some flakes of your sea salt and add a couple of drops off the truffle oil. Be careful with the truffle oil in that the actual case can be extremely overpowering and is not necessary to everybody’s taste.

Then serve sit back and wait for the complements!

A Band to Call Your Own

Is there a band you call your own? A band you love so much that on one hand, you want everyone to hear it, but on the other hand, you want to keep it to yourself?
Be honest: I don't want your girlfriend's/brother's band, or your band.

I want your most passionate music find. Give us a link to their music in your response and we'll put a show together with some of the best ones.

The music you love says so much about who you are. Having a band to call your own is one of the first ways of finding your identity. At least that's my theory.

My life changed with a local Washington, D.C., band called The Urban Verbs.
I saw them in 1977 at a club then called the Atlantis; later, it would be bought and called the 9:30 Club.

Listen to the Urban Verbs song Subways

The band had mystery; Eno heard that and recorded a demo for them in NYC.
They had the best drummer I'd ever heard (Danny Frankel), great guitar playing (Robert Goldstein, now an NPR music librarian), good poetry and singing (Roddy Frantz, whose brother drummed for the Talking Heads), and a synth player who understood the synthesizer as a texture instrument: Robin Rose. I saw almost every show this band did -- more than a hundred is my guess. The group changed my life. In fact, I'd probably not be writing this blog and working at NPR if it weren't for this band. You can now find their music for cheap on iTunes.

It was Robin Rose loaning me his synth that led me to quit my job and play music, and my music playing that got NPR to do a story on me; years later, that story was my entrance to getting a job here...

So tell us your band. We may let the secret out, but don't worry: You'll find another.

Importance of a Simple Golf Swing

Tiger Woods won back to back 1st at the Bridge Stone Invitational held at Firestone CC, Ohio followed by another stunning championship victory at the PGA Championship 2007 Sherwood CC, CA.

I particularly enjoy watching Tiger play because he has such an aesthetic looking swing. Of course, a good looking swing does not automatically translate to a good score but if your simple golf swing looks good, looks correct, then chances are your swing can't be too far wrong. Furthermore, its much easier to replicate a simple golf swing over 18 holes, then an un-natural golf swing that works well at the practice range but cannot stand the rigors of playing golf under the hot sun.

We may get by from time to time with a strange looking golf swing, but golf will always be able to weed out the fakers from those with sound basics. Without sound basics, its impossible to play good golf. Its impossible to hit a 5 iron 200 yards or drive a ball 300 yard the way the pros do. Its not possible to consistently shape a shot, whether it be a draw or slice, and do the amazing things the pros do, such as putting a back spin or stopping a ball the instant it lands on the green. Its not possible to plough the ball out of thick rough and save par.

Without a good simple replicable golf swing built on sound fundamentals, its very hard to hit the ball flush consistently. Since we cannot control the course environment, whether it be an uphill, downline, ball above feet, ball below feet lie, the only thing we can control is our knowledge of the golf swing and whether we implement and ingrain the right techniques into our muscle memory.

I think the most important aspect of the golf game is knowledge. Knowledge is power. We can only practice what our brain knows and is familiar with. If our brain is unfamiliar with the correct fundamentals of how to hold a golf club, the grip, the posture, the timing, we will never be able to tell our muscles to do the right thing. What's most dangerous in golf is that our muscle sensation can deceive us and what feels correct, is actually not. For the amateur who wants to enjoy a good golf game with pals, and perhaps a little money wager, a good litmus test is to check if we can produce a good ball flight at the practice range 7 out of 10 swings.

The basics of golf is important because once we get started off on the wrong foot, its very hard to teach a bad golfer new tricks. It's much easier to learn from a clean slate and build our golf foundation on sound golf fundamentals.

As Yoda said ,"You must unlearn what you have learnt" So before you head to the practice range, start filling your brain with the right golf concepts by reading golf books and you'll find your practices 100% more fruitful.

Lithium Polymer (LiPo) Battery FAQ

Lithium Polymer Batteries is the favorite power source of electric radio-controlled models. They are relatively cheap, light, and hold lots of power. However, many new hobbyists may have some enquiries as to their operations.

Here are three frequently asked questions about them.

1. What is Cell Balancing?

Lithium Polymer batteries usually come packaged as a pack of more than two individual battery cells. For example, electric RC helicopters use 3-cell packs. Each of these battery cells has a nominal voltage of 3.7v; which means that each cell can operate when it maintains its charge between 3.0 to 4.2v. To go above or below or below this range can damage the cell and render it useless, or worse, become dangerously unstable and explode.

While the battery is in usage, the power drawn out of each cell is not equal. Therefore, at the end of each flight, the cells in the battery will be left out of balance. A non-balancing charger will stop charging the battery pack once the voltage of the overall pack is full without paying any attention to each cell. This causes the battery to be more and more unbalanced with each charge and would also result in a diminished performance of the battery pack.

A balance charger eliminates any unbalanced-cells symptoms of a battery pack by charging each cell individually; making sure that the cell's voltage remain balanced at the end of each charge. In essence, balance charger lengthen the life of the battery back and maximizes its performance as well as keep the pack stable and safe to operate.

2. What is C rating?

A lot of radio-control fliers quickly grasp the meaning of most of the battery-associated acronyms but one: the C rating. In fact, many experts have tripped over themselves trying to explain it. However, I've heard a graspable explanation of it from an old Chinese battery manufacturer/expert very recently. Which is: The "C Rating" is the number which you multiply to the capacity of the battery to get its discharge rate.

Still confused? Basically, a 1000 mAh battery rated at 1C will provide 1000 mA of power for 1 hour. On the other hand, if the same pack was rated at 2C, it would provide 2000 mA of power for 30 minutes.

3. How fast can I charge a pack?

Each Lithium Polymer battery pack has a different maximum charge rate. It is very important to never ever charge at a rating above the specified rate! Most batteries have a label that specifies this vital information. However, if the maximum charge rate is not specified, keep in mind that most Lipos are made to be charged at a rate of 1C. Which means a 1000 mAh pack can be charged at 1A and a 500mAh pack can be charged at 0.5A. Once again, never ever exceed the maximum charge rate lest the battery explodes!
